Morning Reflections

"Morning Reflections"

This is the view from our patio breakfast table where each day starts by taking in the birds, the weather, and anything else that shows up. Below, the rice fields sit flooded after harvest, and on this particular morning the light caught the water just right, throwing soft reflections back up into the leaves and trees in front of me.

I wasn't expecting to be so taken with it: the lavender of the sky, the atmospheric golds and greens of the surrounding leaves. I worked much of this piece wet-into-wet, letting the reflections bleed and soften into that atmosphere.
